Flair Espresso is Readying to GO
Southern California-based manual espresso equipment maker Flair Espresso is preparing the launch of the Flair GO, the company’s lightest, smallest and most travel-friendly coffee maker yet. Designed to break down at six points to fit into a compact travel case, the Flair GO can be used with ground coffee and is also compatible with pods. Flair is launching a Kickstarter campaign to support the product beginning on Tuesday, Aug. 27. Here’s the link to the pre-launch.
Lid Maker FoamAroma Rebrands, Introduces Un-Lid
United States-based coffee cup lid maker FoamAroma introduced a fresh rebrand, including its core product now known as the Un-Lid. With an endorsement from award-winning roaster/retailer Onyx Coffee Lab, the lid company founded by engineer and coffee taster Craig Bailey showed off the new brand and lids at the recent Coffee Fest trade show in Los Angeles. The rebranding was led by the coffee-focused firm Black Sheep.
Central American Cup of Excellence Season Concludes with Record Results
Last Week’s Mexico Cup of Excellence auction concluded the CoE season for the Central American for all six participating countries: Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Mexico. The six auctions resulted in total 21,661 bids on 192 CoE-winning lots with an average per-pound price of $21.54 per pound. All six of the auctions earned more in 2024 than they did in 2023, according to the organizers.
Angelino’s Continues CoE Top Lot Buying Streak with Two Mexican Coffees
Speaking of the Mexico Cup of Excellence auction, the Los Angeles-based roasting company Angelino’s Coffee continued its remarkable streak of buying top CoE auction lots. The company placed the winning bids for the top-scoring coffees in two different Mexico CoE categories buying a natural-process Gesha coffee from the Las Nieves farm in Oaxaca for $75.10 per pound, and a washed-process Bourbon coffee from the La Perla Farm in Veracruz for $55.20 per pound.
Introducing the ASEAN Coffee Flavor Sphere, Thailand Edition
The ASEAN Coffee Federation this week introduced a Thailand-specific version of the ASEAN Coffee Flavor Sphere, a regional coffee cupping companion tool initially launched in 2022. The poster is free to download with registration.

Iconic Kellanova-owned brand Eggo has launched its own coffee line, Eggo Coffee, made possible through a partnership with New York-based private-label and wholesale roasting company Two Rivers Coffee Company.
Nordic Chain Espresso House Names Thomas Kelly New Group CEO
Nordic coffee chain Espresso House has named Thomas Kelly as its new Group Chief Executive Officer, starting in September. Thomas was previously CEO of McDonald’s Finland and Sweden and global executive director of Costa Coffee.
Emma Chamberlain Takes Over as Co-CEO of Chamberlain Coffee
Famous lifestyle person Emma Chamberlain has become co-CEO of Chamberlain Coffee, the coffee company she founded four years ago at the age of 18. “When the company was founded, I was aware that I had a lot to learn before I could step into the position I am in today,” Chamberlain told Forbes.
Bizzy Coffee Gets Buzz in Fortune
The heads of the Minnesota-based cold brew coffee company Bizzy Coffee were featured in Fortune this week, describing how they grew from an apartment-based operation to producing hundreds of thousands of cups daily. We last checked in with Bizzy in 2022 when the company landed a $7.1 million funding round.
