Water purification and dispensing equipment company Vivreau is plumbing the depths of coffee with a new filter system designed specifically for cafes and coffee shops.
Part of a broader food-and-beverage-focused filter line called Purity C Advanced, the Purity C Quell ST Advanced filter inline cartridge-based system is focused on ideal mineralization for coffee drinks and the protection of coffee equipment.
“Ingredient water for coffee and tea needs to contain a balanced mineral content and be free from taste and odor that can come from biologicals or disinfectants,” Anastasia Chovan, director of professional filter sales at Vivreau, told Daily Coffee News. “The Purity C Advanced provides optimal filtration and also provides protection against chloramine, which can cause catastrophic damage to espresso machines and cause coffee to taste off.”
The filter line launched for sale earlier this month following a public preview at the 2024 SCA Expo in Chicago in April.
The Purity C Quell ST Advanced filter cartridges drive water through four stages of filtration. Larger particles are screened out first, then carbonate hardness is reduced through ion exchange media. Taste and odor is improved through a coconut-shell-based activated carbon filter, after which a fine final layer retains microparticles.

Chovan told DCN that the company, which has a North American corporate headquarters in British Columbia and an operations headquarters in New Jersey, tested the Purity C Advanced line for coffee applications with partners including California-based Dolce Neve and Maine-based Bev-Tech.
The new line is not Vivreau’s first coffee-specific solution. For several years the company has produced the AquaAroma Crema filter lineup for home and office espresso machines. Additional products in the new line target bakeries and other commercial food and beverage operations.
Vivreau does not publish prices for the Purity C Quell ST Advanced, and quotes depend on the size and capacity requirements of each customer.
