It’s time to coffee fest, or c’est l’heure du festival du café, as Google Translate no doubt accurately avers. Back for its second year, Café Collectif (not to be confused with Coffee Collectif) is coming to Montreal for two days of provincial specialty coffee roasters and community in Quebec’s largest city.
Taking place Friday, May 31st and Saturday, June 1st, Café Collectif is “organized by a team of passionate roasters” and touts itself as “the first festival in [the] province dedicated to bringing together and promoting the exceptional talents of local roasters” with a mission “to celebrate specialty coffee and build community around a shared passion.” This year’s event brings over 30 roasters from around Quebec under one roof at Cafe SAT inside the Society for Arts and Technology.
Split over two days, the participating roasters include Hubert Saint-Jean, Rabbit Hole, Microespresso, 94 celsius, Nordik, Artery, Saint-Henri, and Nucleus. Along with so much coffee, Café Collectif includes learning opportunities like a barista training course, tastings, as well as a bean-to-bar chocolate learning session, including a tasting. And as a bonus, an “official barista competition” will take place Friday night that individuals can attend or even participate in if they are feeling up to it.
