Dutch commercial coffee roaster maker Giesen this week launched Giesen Profiler 2.0, a redeveloped software package for roast profiling and inter-machine connectivity.
The software officially launched Jan. 31. The company has not published the price of the software package, although payment plans are available, and it is free for clients who previously purchased the Giesen 1 Profiler.
Many of the updates offered by Giesen Profiler 2.0 relate to user editing and customization. The company says that the back-end structure of the software also easily allows for the addition of new features moving forward.
“The Giesen Profiler didn’t feel personalized enough for our customers,” Giesen said in an announcement shared with DCN. “As coffee roasters, everyone desires to craft their own unique roast. We aim to assist our customers in achieving that goal whenever possible. That’s why we collaborated to develop the 2.0 version. The resulting success is attributed to our customers, and we couldn’t be happier about it.”
According to Giesen, the new Profiler version is designed to run smoother and with more stability. It includes split-screen charts that can be customized based on the user’s needs. Additionally, roast profiles can be overlaid for easy visual comparison.
Other enhanced features include design customization, whereby users can choose the colors and line widths of graph lines, as well as more editing options. Giesen said the Profiler 2.0 can also connect with ancillary machinery — such as conveyors, destoners and green coffee silos — in order to adjust the flow of green coffee into the roaster.
Based in the town of Ulft in The Netherlands, Giesen offers a broad range of commercial roasting machines, from sample and shop roasters up to industrial machines with 140-kilogram batch capacities. The company recently introduced a 15-kilo electric heat machine called the W15E, as well as the W6 Pro, an upgraded version of its popular 7-kilo-capacity model that boasts numerous new automation features.
