Swedish coffee roaster Löfbergs has fully acquired Danish roaster Peter Larsen Kaffe.

Löfbergs acquired a 50 per cent stake in Peter Larsen Kaffe in 2002 and has since gradually increased its ownership.

“Since our entry, Peter Larsen Kaffe has grown significantly, increasing its market share fivefold and becoming one of Denmark’s leading coffee brands,” says Anders Thorén, Head of Corporate Communications at Löfbergs.

Peter Larsen Kaffee CEO and Co-Owner Claus Bertelsen is leaving his role at the end of July 2025 after 24 years in the company.

“I probably have about 15 years left of my working life, so if I’m going to do something else, it’s now,” says Bertelsen.

“That’s why now is the right time for me to step down and sell my remaining shareholding. Peter Larsen Kaffe has been a part of my whole life, and I’m happy that Löfbergs shares my hope that the business will continue to be an important and valued part of Danish coffee culture in the future.”

Bertelsen was appointed CEO of Peter Larsen Kaffe in 2004. Under his leadership, the company has increased its market share fivefold and developed into one of Denmark’s leading coffee companies. Bertelsen has also been responsible for various countries and areas in the Löfberg Group and has been part of the group management since 2016.

“Claus has done a fantastic job and has made a big difference to the development of both Peter Larsen Kaffe and Löfbergs’ business in Denmark. His decision does not change our long-term commitment to Peter Larsen Kaffe, and the goal is to continue to grow in the Danish market,” says Anders Fredriksson, CEO of Löfbergs.

Thorén adds that alongside Löfberg’s businesses in Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and the United Kingdom, Peter Larsen Kaffe plays a key role in the company’s international growth.

“The expansion is also driven by our investments to secure larger international contracts and establishing ourselves in new markets,” he says.

“With Claus Bertelsen staying on as CEO until the end of July, we have time to find his successor. Together with our skilled and engaged Danish colleagues, we remain fully committed to strengthening our presence in Denmark.”
