Leading pure play coffee and tea company JDE Peet’s has received the Fair Pay Leader certification from the Fair Pay Innovation Lab, recognising the absence of any significant overall pay differences between genders across the company’s international workforce.

As part of the work towards the “gold-standard” certification, in 2024 a global gender pay equity study analysed the compensation structures and anonymised remuneration data of approximately 19,000 JDE Peet’s employees.

Accounting for factors such as role, internal job band, and differences in work location, the study found the gap between the pay of men and women is 0.52 per cent, well under the future EU directive’s threshold of 5 per cent.

“At JDE Peet’s, we want to create a workplace where a diversity of ideas, perspectives, cultures, and backgrounds are welcome,” says Rafael Oliveira, CEO of JDE Peet’s.

“Our workforce represents the people we serve – our consumers. Diversity leads to better business decisions. The Fair Pay Leader certification is a wonderful recognition and does not mean we stop here. We will continue to assess and address equity gaps to create a workplace where talent is fairly recognised and rewarded.”

JDE Peet’s conducted its first pay equity study in 2022 and has been committed to monitoring its gender pay equity position ever since. The company says it not only focuses on identifying potential gaps but also on ensuring its policies and practices support equal opportunity.

In December 2024, JDE Peet’s received the 2025 Catalyst Award, which recognises organisations that excel in advancing workplace inclusion and gender equity.
