Scott Berman, Senior Vice President of Canteen, has been named the National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA) 2024 Coffee Legend of the Year.

Berman has more than 40 years of experience in the United States-based vending machine and food service company and has “consistently pushed the boundaries of innovation and service excellence” within the coffee industry.

In a statement, NAMA said the Coffee Legend of the Year Award honours individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the coffee industry, with Berman’s career a testament to that distinction.

Throughout his career, Berman has helped advance the Office Coffee Services (OCS) sector. His work is said to have been instrumental in pushing the sector to new heights and improving the experience for both operators and consumers.

Moreover, Berman is known among his colleagues as the ‘Coffee King’, due to his deep knowledge of the coffee service landscape.

“From early innovations in pantry service to his efforts in mentoring the next generation of industry leaders, Berman’s influence has been felt across the industry,” NAMA said in a statement.

NAMA CEO and President Carla Balakgie adds: “Scott is a visionary whose contributions have made a big impact on the coffee industry.”

“He is a true pioneer, constantly looking for new ways to advance the OCS business while maintaining a strong sense of community across the channel. Scott’s legacy is one of mentorship, passion and an unwavering commitment to the highest standard of service.”

Berman will be honoured at NAMA’s 2024 Coffee, Tea, and Water Show in New Orleans from 11 to 12 December.
