Expocacer (the Cerrado Coffee Growers Cooperative) in Brazil is strengthening its international presence with the launch of a new logistics hub in the United Kingdom (UK).

In a statement, Expocacer said sales in the region are expected to grow by up to 15 per cent in the first year with products now available for direct purchase at the warehouse. This marks Expocacer’s second international hub, following its expansion into the United States in 2024. The cooperative currently exports to more than 35 countries.

Expocacer is now said to be the first Brazilian coffee cooperative to establish international distribution bases. According to the British Coffee Association, people in the UK drink approximately 98 million cups of coffee per day. And on the high street, café culture has continued to boom, with 80 per cent of people who visit coffee shops doing so at least once a week.

“The European market is one of the world’s largest coffee consumers, and London serves as a strategic distribution point. This hub facilitates smoother and faster delivery within the UK and across Europe, as coffee will always be available in warehouses under Expocacer’s name. Our goal is to bring producers closer to consumers,” says Ítalo Henrique, Expocacer’s Commercial Director.

In 2024, Expocacer recorded 41 per cent growth record in coffee exports compared to the previous year, selling more than 550,000 60-kilogram sacks to international markets and generating approximately US$165 million in revenue.

“Coffee is deeply embedded in daily life across the UK, with a growing number of specialty coffee shops in nearly every town and city. Expocacer’s decision to establish a hub in London reinforces a true ‘direct-from-farm’ model, enabling farmers to sell their products directly to consumers without intermediaries,” says Simão Pedro de Lima, CEO of Expocacer.

Beyond expanding its market reach, the project aims to support the global rise in specialty coffee consumption, a sector that has been growing at an annual rate of 12 per cent, according to the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa). The global coffee market, currently valued at approximately US$132 billion, is projected to reach US$166 billion by 2029, with a compound annual growth rate of 4.72 per cent, according to Mordor Intelligence.

With its presence now established in the UK, Expocacer will offer its full portfolio of coffee alongside its expertise in environmentally responsible farming practices, including regenerative agriculture and low-carbon coffee farming.
