Melbourne-based Brunetti Classico has launched a Paris-themed collection of pastries and bakes in honour of the Olympic Games 2024.

In celebration of the sporting event, the pasticceria has created a series of limited-edition baked goods featuring creative designs inspired by the French capital’s culture and famous landmarks.

The menu includes a shortbread Eiffel Tower cookie; a vanilla and strawberry Paris themed cupcake with red, white, and blue vanilla chantilly; a flaky cornetto rive gauche with homemade hazelnut praline and hazelnut mousseline; and a cornetto rive droite filled with raspberry compote, a rose and lychee mousseline, and finished with lychee.

The creation of the pastries and cakes comes as the Founder of Brunetti Classico, Giorgio Angele, reflects on his own experience as a pastry chef for the Italian Olympic team in 1956. The games, which were hosted in Melbourne, brought the Italian chef to Australia where he has since endeavoured to bring a slice of Italy to the Melbourne café scene.

Founded in 1985, with its flagship store located in Carlton, Brunetti Classico provides coffee, traditional cakes, gelati, and a host of sweet and savoury foods. According to the brand, it has been committed to encapsulating an authentic Italian café and pasticceria experience for its customers since its establishment.

BeanScene subscribers will be able to read the full story of Giorgio’s long-standing career in the August edition of the magazine.
