Coffee and sustainability professionals gathered in Bogotá, Colombia on 31 August for the 4C Regional Stakeholder Conference.
The event’s topic was ‘New Requirements for Coffee Exports and Latest Developments in Sustainability Certification’. Participants had the opportunity to engage with stakeholders, gain insight from industry leaders, and contribute to discussions.
Key topics of the event included an examination of the EU Directive on Deforestation-free Products, with a focus on compliance requirements and solutions.
Attendees gained insights of the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act as well as human rights issues in coffee such as gender equality and food security.
Among the speakers at the event were experts from the Colombian coffee sector, such as representatives from the National Federation of Coffee Growers (FNC) as well as representatives from international brands such as Nestlé, Marubeni, Sucden and Cofco.
Non-government organisations such as WWF and Welthungerhilfe, along with sustainability experts from organisations such as the International Coffee Organisation, Global Coffee Platform, Meo Carbon Solutions and Global Risk Assessment Services (GRAS) also made appearances.
The conference provided attendees with an opportunity to stay up to date on critical sustainability regulations and requirements by connecting them with industry leaders and peers.
The 4C Regional Stakeholder Conference showcased the collective commitment of the coffee and sustainability community to driving positive change and promoting responsible practices. According to 4C, the event’s success and high level of participants’ interaction underscored the industry’s dedication to embracing sustainability and meeting the evolving demands of coffee exports.
