Now There Is A Pumpkin Spice Slurpee (Or PSLurpee If You Will)

Here we are, early August, the official dog days. Summer is like that one friend you’re super excited to see when they first arrive but has a way of outstaying their welcome. Like, Summer, you good bro? Can I call you an Uber or something? And as has become tradition in this back half of sweltering season, autumnal ideations are becoming reality. For brands, either because they are doing the yeoman’s work of speaking fall into existence for us all or because they want to be first to market, that means a late-summer pumpkin spicing of, well, just about everything.

Now 7-Eleven wants in on the action. The convenience store chain announced the arrival of a pumpkin spice-flavored version of their iconic summer treat, the Slurpee.

Announced via press release, the new pumpkin spice Slurpee hit select 7-Eleven locations on August 1st. And by select, they mean extremely limited. Only five total 7-Eleven and Speedway stores in the entire United States are serving the PSLurpee. Los Angeles got two (5530 Valley Blvd. and 2030 A West 8th St.), New York City got one (82 Greenwich St.), Dallas got one as well, in suburban Irving, which is home of the convenience chain’s corporate office (3200 Hackberry Rd.), plus one more in noted fast food testing ground Enon, Ohio (90 N Xenia Dr.).

The new drink is described as having “the flavor of pumpkin and cinnamon spice swirled together in the form of a refreshing, ice-cold Slurpee drink.” And even as limited as they are, once supplies of the pumpkin spice Slurpee are gone, they are gone. But maybe not for good? 7-11 Senior Vice President of Merchandising Dennis Phelps states, “The introduction of the Pumpkin Spice Slurpee drink is a fun experiment for fans in some of our top Slurpee drink markets. This year, you don’t have to just be a coffee lover to get your pumpkin spice fix!”

Fun experiment you say? Perhaps, if all things go well, there will be a larger roll-out in the future.

I may be ready for summer to be in the rearview, but I’m not so sure I’ve fully prepared myself for the pumpkin spicing of it all. I need time to recover first. Now, if you want to throw a pumpkin spice and Coca-Cola Slurpee my way around mid-September, then who would I be to say no? And why isn’t there a pumpkin spice Coca-Cola yet?
