Build-Outs Of Coffee: Haraz Coffee House In Nashville, TN

Distinctive design and cultural influences from the Middle East inspire the environment at Haraz Coffee House—and the name, which comes from the Haraz Mountains in Yemen. Founder Abdelrahman Abdelwahed has a vision for what this space can be in the Nashville coffee scene, and we’re thrilled to share that with you today as part of the 2024 Build-Outs of Coffee feature series.

As told to Sprudge by Abdelrahman Abdelwahed.

For those who aren’t familiar, will you tell us about your company? Can you tell us a bit about the new space?

We are thrilled to announce that our new location is in the Wabash building, also known as the WeWork building, right next to Basement East! Our space is beautifully illuminated with natural light, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. We’ve embraced a modern Mediterranean aesthetic, featuring handmade blue Turkish tiles on the cafe counter and back wall. Additionally, you’ll find intricate geometric Arabian wooden designs and a signature Yemeni-style couch that welcomes you as soon as you walk in. It’s truly a special place, designed to provide a unique and enriching experience.

What’s your approach to coffee?

100% Premium Organic, sun dried with no pesticides coffee. In a breathtaking remote part of the world, the ancient villages of the Haraz Mountains in Yemen thrive 3,000 meters above sea level, continuously producing the perfect conditions to grow the most aromatic coffee beans in the world. The Haraz Mountains lie on Yemen’s lower west coast region, prospering since the 6th century as the birthplace of premium organic coffee. Now, centuries later, Haraz remains a globally acclaimed exporter of the most sought-after coffee.

Any machines, coffees, special equipment lined up?

How is your project considering sustainability?

We take great care in sourcing our coffee and tea from ethical and sustainable farms.

What’s your hopeful target opening date/month?

We are aiming for beginning of July 2024!

Are you working with craftspeople, architects, and/or creatives that you’d like to mention?

Absolutely, teamwork makes the dream work! A special shout out goes to our talented architect Mubarak Hauter and our amazing designer Lorraine Nassif.
