Ecos del Café: A New Documentary Series About Costa Rican Producers By Cafe Imports

Cafe Imports are no strangers to coffee videos. The importing company has been a Finalist multiple times in the Best Coffee Video category of the annual Sprudgie Awards. Be it for experimental fermentation methods or roasting concepts, videos by Cafe Imports are always thought-provoking. And now they have launched a new series focusing on Costa Rican coffee producers.

Titled “Ecos del Café: Narrativas de Productores Costarricenses” (Echos of Coffee: Narratives from Costa Rican Producers), the documentary series will take you behind the scenes with some of Cafe Imports producer partners to learn more about the people behind the coffee. And the first episode is out now.

Announced Tuesday, June 18th via their blog, Cafe Imports describes Ecos del Café as a “[deep dive] into the rich history, passion, and unwavering dedication behind Costa Rican coffee production” by sharing “the voices and stories of the producers themselves.” The first episodes takes place at the Sierra San Luis Micromill in Grecia in the West Valley of Costa Rica. There, Cafe Imports talks with Alexander and Magali, siblings and third-generation coffee farmers who took over the family farm and start the micromill.

In the 10-minute video, the brother and sister discuss the history of the farm and how starting the mill was originally done out of necessity. “Their story is one of devotion, resilience, and an unbreakable bond with their land and family,” Cafe Imports states.

“The purpose behind this series is to take a back seat and truly listen to the stories from the people behind the coffee—their words, their perceptions, and their relationship with it,” Cafe Imports Senior Content Specialist Victor Pagán tells Sprudge. “We aim to capture the essence of their experiences, allowing their voices to shine through authentically. The format of the series is conversational, evolving naturally into rich narratives, shared thoughts, and heartfelt feelings.”

The initial run of the Ecos del Café series will comprise three videos, and Pagán states that they hope for the series to be ongoing, expanding into different countries. The timing of the remaining two videos has yet to be announced.
