Registrations for the Allpress Espresso Mini Q event in Melbourne on Thursday 27 June are now open for potential participants.

Hosted in partnership with La Marzocco, the event at Allpress Espresso’s Collingwood venue will celebrate the art of coffee making and show coffee lovers what it takes to become a Q Grader.

Attendees will get the chance to test their skills in three key sections of the Q Grader exam, with the winner taking home a Moccamaster. Competitors will be tested in: sensory skills (identifying three intensities of salt, sour, and sweet flavours), olfactory skills (detecting and pairing key coffee aromas), and triangulation (finding the odd one out among three coffees).

Whether you are a seasoned roaster, quality control expert, or green coffee buyer, everyone is invited to attend to either take part or support a family member or friend.

With 30 places available at the Allpress Espresso event, interested parties are advised to reserve their spot as soon as possible on Eventbrite.

According to the organisers, the ability to grade coffee is not only a necessary skill for many jobs in the industry but is also important for the future and sustainability of the sector.
