SoFlo Coffee Collective and Dessert Oasis Coffee Roasters have teamed up to present the first Detroit Coffee Week, a week of coffee events and classes from July 22 to 27th. You can register and see a full list of events now (get to it—spots are filling up fast!).
“We are thrilled to bring Detroit Coffee Week to our amazing city,” said Amélie Haakonsen, director of sales and education at Dessert Oasis Coffee Roasters and organizer of Detroit Coffee Week. Nearly all the events hosted throughout the week, a mix of learning opportunities and social events, are free.
“Our goal for this event is to make education and experiences accessible to all,” said Haakonsen, “all while fostering connections, sharing knowledge, and elevating the coffee experience for everyone involved.”
Why It Matters: The team behind Detroit Coffee Week has teamed up with the US chapter of the Specialty Coffee Association to host its slate of events, along with sponsorship partners like Planet Oat, Black Rabbit Service Co, Probat, Slayer, Barista Magazine, Roast Magazine, Visions, Hario USA, Espresso Parts.

Latte art tutorials and a throwdown
Cuppings with coffees shared by importers like Cafe Imports, Ally Coffee, Artisan Coffee, Yellow Rooster Coffee Imports, List + Biesler, and JNP
A signature drink competition
Lectures and discussions on marketing, sustainable green buying, and women in coffee
