The Australian coffee industry is mourning the passing of Jasper Coffee co-founder Wells Trenfield.

“It is with deep sadness that we write to advise that on Saturday 4 May, our believed co-founder Wells’ life adventure came to a close. He passed away peacefully at home,” the Jasper Coffee family said in a statement.

“Wells cared so incredibly much about people. For him, Jasper Coffee was a vehicle to help enrich people’s lives. Through the depth of flavour in a coffee shares with friends, he was always channelling love, resources and care into our family of coffee growing communities across the world.”

“Wells’ wonderful being left part of his joy of life with everyone he met. He would want to have his enthusiasm, vibrancy, appetite for adventure, his sense of wonder of the world and his hunger to explore rub off a bit on whoever he encountered. His enduring energy and passion for life was a gift. One that we hope you will carry in your hearts,” the statement reads.

Well’s funeral service and memorial will take place from 1.30pm on 13 May at Leonda by the Yarra in Hawthorn, Victoria.

Those unable to attend in person but which to honour his life and industry legacy can view the service at https://www.funeral.info/n/se4zqm

In lieu of flowers, Well’s family has asked to help support the causes that were close to Wells’ heart: Cafe Femenino Foundation, Sea Shepherd, and the coffee growers of Copan Ruinas in Honduras
