Aquiares Estate and Enveritas Claim First EUDR-Certified Coffee Shipment

Prized Costa Rican coffee producer Aquiares Estate and corporate sustainability firm Enveritas said they have delivered the first certified European Union deforestation-free (EUDR) compliant container of coffee. Enveritas provided the certification services, and Nomad Coffee in Barcelona, Spain, is the buyer. Designed to prevent deforestation in agricultural supply chains, EUDR law calls for compliance among large companies beginning in 2025. A consortium of large European coffee companies has urged legislators to delay enforcement

German Coffee Association Hosting Free EUDR Webinar

As the European Union deforestation regulation for coffee (EUDR) compliance draws nearer, the German Coffee Association is hosting a free webinar for members and non-members alike. The April 25 webinar will highlight the association’s partnership with GRAS Global Risk Assessment Services for EUDR compliance. 

Sucafina Signs Agreement for Massive Bonded Warehouse in China

Green coffee trading company Sucafina said it signed an agreement with authorities in the Chinese city of Kunshan for a 10,000+ metric ton green coffee warehouse with multiple receiving bays, and temperature and humidity control. 

La Marzocco and Rimowa Team Up for a Luxe Mini

Italian espresso equipment giant La Marzocco collaborated with German fashion luxury maker Rimowa for a limited-edition customized version of La Marzocco’s classic Linea Mini. The machine features numerous upgraded components and features. La Marzocco introduced the core Linea Mini nine years ago, and reintroduced it one month ago

Full Steam Espresso, the parent company of London, England-based specialty coffee companies Assembly Coffee and Volcano Coffee Works has named Myles Shapcott chief commercial officer. 

Boston Blue Bottle Workers Walk Out in Union Demand

After giving management a Monday, April 8, deadline to voluntary recognize their union, a group of Blue Bottle Coffee workers in the Boston area walked off the jobs to formally file for a union petition, according to Blue Bottle Independent Union, the grassroots group of workers. 

Philz Coffee Workers Unionize in Berkeley

Workers at Philz Coffee location in Berkeley, California, have voted to unionize in a 16-0 vote, according to an Eater report this week. The election made the location the first Philz shop to formally unionize.
