Longtime green coffee professional Mark Inman has joined United States-based Covoya Specialty Coffee as director and senior trader.
A past president of the Specialty Coffee Association of America (now SCA), Inman comes to Covoya after a brief stint at Mercon Specialty, a subsidiary of the Mercon Coffee Group, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in December.
For three years prior to joining Mercon, Inman was the director of growth for United States-based importing company Sustainable Harvest.
Inman’s appointment to the Healdsburg, California, office of Covoya represents something of a professional return. For seven years, Inman was the North American sales director for Olam Specialty Coffee, which officially rebranded to become Covoya Specialty Coffee in 2022.
In an announcement of Inman’s appointment, Covoya Managing Director Rob Stephen described him as “one of the most respected professionals in our industry.”
“It starts with the breadth and depth of his accomplishments which make him an amazing asset for Covoya, our suppliers and our customers,” said Stephen. “But to me, it’s his character and the strength of the relationships that he cultivates that truly sets him apart from his peers.”
Alongside his career in green coffee, Inman was one of the founding partners of the California roasting company Taylor Maid Organic Farms, which was acquired in 2016 before a name change to Taylor Lane.
“I am elated to be coming back home to Covoya and working with a team I know and love,” Inman said in the announcement from Covoya. “I am especially looking forward to reuniting with my dear friend and co-host Todd Mackey as we start our work on season 4 of The Exchange podcast.”
