The MONIN Coffee Creativity Cup Asia-Pacific Finals 2023 will take place on 22 November at Slate At The Row, Kuala Lumpur.
Finalists include Honoka Kawashima of New Zealand, Larry Lloyd Andrada from Philippines, Byung Jun Jeong of South Korea, Ryan Phang Shee Zhe of Malaysia, Rachel Ng of Singapore, Houey Hoamng from Cambodia, Awatchapong Poonim from Thailand, Ajik M. Hazazi Aji of Indonesia, Chunjue Xue from China, Jennifer Ho of Hong Kong, Ramandeep of India, Ganbayar Baasandorj of Mongolia, Kent Lai of Taiwan and Daniel Wilson from Australia.
MONIN Advocacy and Innovation Manager, John Davidson, says the challenge is not just about creating a delicious cup of coffee, but delivering a complete sensory experience. He says it’s about pushing the boundaries of innovation, moving beyond a simple vanilla latte and into uncharted territory to create unique tastes and flavours.
“We want to give our community in the coffee space something to really look forward to, and something to set their imaginations alight and create some innovative signature serves,” says John.
This year’s theme is to enhance the five senses. Contestants must make the most creative espresso based mocktail they can that enhances and appeals to all five senses (sight, smell, sound, taste, and touch). Each contestant will be marked on how well they incorporate each of the five senses into their drink.
John makes it clear that the MONIN Cup is not something you want to miss as a competitor, with all competitors to be lavishly rewarded for their efforts.
“The top three winners at Kuala Lumpur will get to enjoy an exotic Asian destination as part of their prize,” John says.
